Dr Nwokoro read medicine at Cambridge (‘95-‘00), singing in a funk band and winning an athletics Blue. After house jobs he moved south to work at Great Ormond Street, St Mary’s, Ealing and the Royal London (covering general paediatrics, intensive care, neonatology, cardiology and transplant amongst others) before completing his respiratory training at Norwich, Cambridge and the Royal London Hospital.
He completed his research degree at Queen Mary University of London and began as lead consultant for children’s asthma and chronic lung disease at Barts Health NHS Trust and East London STP in 2013. He is an active cyclist and campaigns for cleaner air.
An accomplished clinical triallist, in 2017 Dr Nwokoro submitted his doctoral thesis for which he was awarded the higher degree of Doctor of Medicine.
He has published in journals including The Lancet Respiratory Medicine, The British Medical Journal, The European Respiratory Journal, Archives of Disease in Childhood, Thorax and Paediatric Respiratory Reviews on topics including preschool wheeze, air pollution and lung health, cystic fibrosis and eicosanoid biology and has spoken at conferences including the John Price Respiratory Conference, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Spring Meeting, the European Respiratory Society Summer Meeting and the American Thoracic Society Conference.
